Aftercare Instructions for Your New Tattoo
To ensure it heals beautifully and maintains its vibrancy, please follow these aftercare instructions carefully:
Days 1–3:
Washing:
Wash your tattoo gently with lukewarm water and a mild, fragrance-free soap. Be delicate—avoid scrubbing. Pat the area dry with a clean, soft towel.
Protective Film:
Keep your tattoo covered with a protective film for the first three days. Change the film three times a day to maintain cleanliness and prevent infection. Always wash and dry the tattoo thoroughly before reapplying the film (after 10-15 mins.).
Days 4–14:
Moisturizing:
After three days, remove the film entirely and begin applying Bepanthenol Tattoo cream or Balm TATTOO. Use a thin layer 3–4 times daily for at least 10 days or until your tattoo is fully healed. This helps keep your skin hydrated and supports the healing process.
Important Tips:
You don’t need to stay wrapped all the time
Yes, wrap is an important part of protection when there are many risks around you such as dust, dirt, or pet hair. But if you can avoid contact with contaminants and don’t injure your tattoo on the couch, jeans, or bed sheets (yes, you should always wrap it before going to sleep), you don’t need to sit wrapped all day long.
A thin layer of ointment really means a thin layer of ointment
When your artist tells you to apply a thin layer of ointment, they mean that the skin should have a slight shine. There should be no white streaks. Your skin needs to breathe.
Don’t apply ointment and wrap the tattoo immediately after washing it
The point is that the skin needs to breathe and should not be overheated or “steamed.” As soon as you remove the wrap, your skin is already warm and softened. If you wash the tattoo and immediately wrap it again, you create a never-ending sauna effect.
Let the skin breathe for 10-15 minutes, then apply the ointment.
To sum up: if you want your tattoo to heal properly, you need to maintain a balance of moisture — too wet is bad, too dry is also bad. However, remember that everything written above is general advice and may be adjusted for specific needs and situations. Try to feel your body and understand what works for you and what doesn’t. Most importantly, listen to your tattoo artist, because only they know the best way to heal.
Avoid soaking the tattoo in water (no swimming, baths, or saunas) until it is completely healed.
Protect the tattooed area from direct sunlight, as it can cause fading and irritation.
Opt for loose clothing over the tattoo to minimize friction and allow the skin to breathe.
